Star City brownfields site eyed for recreational uses
Advertiser

STAR CITY, W.Va. -- A former industrial site in Monongalia County is being eyed for recreational uses.

Star City recently acquired the former Quality Glass Site from the Monongalia County Commission. Mayor Allen Sharp tells The Dominion Post that the town wants to convert the 3-acre property into a trail head with parking for the Caperton Trail and a boat slide for canoes and kayaks.

Metals and other contaminants were removed from the site under the state's brownfields program. Restrictions, such as no digging or drilling, remain in effect.

Sharp says the town will comply with the restrictions.
