MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University's International Center for Performance Excellence has a new director.

Matt Brann has been appointed to head the center within the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. He has served as the interim director since July 2011.

Officials say that during that time, the center has strengthened existing relationships and created new partnerships with professional associations, and co-sponsored an international sport management consortium at WVU.

The center was created in 2004 and absorbed Fitness Information Technology. It publishes reference and other books, academic journals and test products in coaching education, physical education, sport management, sport and exercise psychology and sport sociology.

Since 2004, it has published about 80 books, doubled its ownership of quarterly journals, and converted many of its publications into e-books.
