Infant death retrial moved to Monongalia County
Advertiser

ST. MARYS, W.Va. -- A Pleasants County case involving the 1981 death of an infant will be retried in Monongalia County.

Special prosecutor Tyler Furbee tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that a judge granted Richard Alan Poore's request for a change of venue for his retrial.

Furbee says a trial date hasn't been set. He declined to comment further.

Poore was charged in 2006 in the 1981 shaking death of his son, Richard Poore Jr., after new information came to light. The former St. Marys resident was convicted of first-degree murder in 2008 and sentenced to life without mercy.

The state Supreme Court overturned the conviction in 2010 and sent the case back to Pleasants County.
