At least three injured in Putnam County collision

WINFIELD, W.Va. -- At least three people were injured after two cars collided along W.Va. 817 in Putnam County on Thursday evening, dispatchers said.

The cars crashed at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Stewart Acres housing development in Winfield, according to Putnam County 911 dispatchers.

One person was ejected from one of the cars and two people were trapped in one car. Dispatchers were not sure of the extent of injuries, but said a HealthNet helicopter had been called to the scene. 

The accident closed a portion of W.Va. 817 for about an hour. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
