MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- An Illinois couple is searching for the owner of a lost Christmas gift they believe originated in Martinsburg.

Bonnie and Jack Chavis of Chillicothe, Ill., received a clear, plastic envelope from the U.S. Postal Service with a note stapled to the front apologizing for its condition. Inside, they found the front of an envelope address to them from friends in Missouri. But it also included a Christmas card and gift that was meant for someone else.

The card was addressed to "Candi, Matt, Riley and Caleb'' and was signed "Love, A. Jean.''

It included a $100 Target gift card. The Chavises called Target and discovered the card was purchased in Martinsburg.

Jack Chavis tells The Journal he'll give the card to charity if they can't find the owner.
