WEST UNION, W.Va. -- A former North Central Regional Jail corrections officer was arrested Friday and accused of having sex with a female prison inmate.

Jerrel Jacob Jones, 19, of Parkersburg, was arraigned in Doddridge County Magistrate Court on six counts of imposition of sexual acts on a person incarcerated or under supervision, according to West Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous.

State Police Trooper J.R. Barker arrested Jones after an investigation that began Dec. 2, when State Police received a complaint that Jones had been having sex with a female inmate.

The victim said she began having sex with Jones when she was first incarcerated in early November, according to a criminal complaint filed in Doddridge County Magistrate Court.

Barker interviewed Jones, who allegedly said that he had oral sex with the victim once and had other sexual contact at least five times.

Baylous said the sexual contact was apparently with the inmate's consent but is still against state law.

Jones was in the Central Regional Jail on Friday afternoon, with bail set at $120,000. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled Jan. 4 in Doddridge County Magistrate Court.
