Small fire breaks out at abandoned downtown building

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston Firefighters put out a fire in a downtown Charleston building just 20 minutes after they got news of the blaze.

A Kanawha County 911 dispatcher said the fire department got a call that there were flames shooting through the roof of a vacant two-story building in the 200 block of Leon Sullivan Way at 12:13 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters had the fire extinguished by 12:35 a.m.

The dispatcher said there was one person inside the building who firefighters safely got out of the building.
