Temple Israel: will feature an "Issues of Conscience" Film Festival this season, sponsored by the Social Action Committee its location, 2312 Kanawha Blvd. E. The film festival is free, however, those who attend are encouraged to sign up. The first film, "Sullivan's Travels," will be shown at 6 p.m. on Jan. 15. Released in December 1941, the movie is a perfectly imperfect Depression-era serio-comedy that addresses issues that remain contemporary: poverty, race relations, the criminal justice system and Hollywood superficiality. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and in line with the film's setting, will be served from the church's "soup kitchen." The 90-minute film will be followed by coffee, dessert and casual discussion. A love offering will also be received and donated to the Richwood Ministerial and Summersville Ministerial Associations community needs fund. Singing will be Dana Thomas and Jennifer Gatewood of Summersville; Hands of Worship from Canvas; The Pomeroys of Richwood; The Deal Brothers of Craigsville; and The Faith Harmony Boys of Charleston.
