St. Albans Partnership/Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Bridge Closing Party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at the St. Albans Roadside Park. Live radio broadcasts and giveaways will be featured. The event is in conjunction with Monday's closing of the Nitro-St. Albans Bridge. The St. Albans Historical Society will be displaying historic bridge photos. Businesses will be on hand to showcase and promote that St. Albans is still open for business. Exhibitors will be distributing promotional items and there will be gift drawings and prizes.

Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a 2012 Photo Fund Drive/Christmas Shoot from noon to 6 p.m. Jan. 6 at the new Sissonville Fire Station on Call Road. A complimentary 10-by-13 portrait will be given to those making a $20 donation. Walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds will be used to purchase firefighting and rescue equipment.

Kanawha County Public Library board of directors' finance committee will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Main Library, 123 Capitol St. The proposed branch contributions for the 2013-14 fiscal year will be reviewed. The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the fourth-floor boardroom. Call 304-343-4646 for information.

Preceptor Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Kanawha Turnpike, Spring Hill. President Charlotte Bowling will conduct the business meeting. Hostesses will be Anne Stone and Mary Arthur, who will present the program. Refreshments will be served after the business meeting. Service is containers for Manna Meal, tabs for Ronald McDonald House and magazines for the Veterans Clinic.

Torchbearer Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the home of Sandra Jo Medley. Medley will present a program on vacations with the aid of Betty Neff.

Chi Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Bethel Baptist Church, 5028 Kentucky St., South Charleston. Dottie Alderman will be hostess and Janet Durbin will present the program on the American flag.
