SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- One of the cast members from MTV's "Buckwild" reality TV series has lost his job with the city of South Charleston.

Shain Gandee, who worked for the city's public works department, was fired about the same time the show began filming, South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens said Monday.

However, Mullens said Gandee's termination was not related to the show. Although he would not say exactly why Gandee was fired, the mayor said Gandee was let go for a "violation of the personnel policy" at the city.

"Buckwild" purports to show the everyday antics of a group of young people from the Sissonville area and the surrounding Kanawha Valley. Although largely panned locally, the show debuted last week to an audience larger than "Jersey Shore."
