Beech Bottom plant site draws companies' interest

BEECH BOTTOM -- A former steel plant property in Beech Bottom is drawing the interest of companies in the energy sector.

The Business Development Corp. of the Northern Panhandle acquired the former Wheeling Corrugating property in November.

Executive director Pat Ford tells The Herald-Star of Steubenville, Ohio, that the development group showed the 650-acre property to prospects throughout the holiday season.

Some prospects are looking only for land. Others are looking for building space.

Ford says the development group doesn't want to subdivide the property prematurely. It has met with two engineering companies to discuss proposals for a master site plan.

The development group is working with Los Angeles-based Hackman Capital to market the property. A Hackman subsidiary, State Route 2 LLC, owns the rights to the equipment.
