Unity of Kanawha Valley will be home to the monthly Open Stage and Coffee House with host Ron Sowell at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Local musicians are welcome to come and share their talents. Performers sign up at 7 p.m. General admission is $5. Admission for performers, seniors and children is $2. Various coffees, teas, soft drinks and homemade treats are available at a small cost.
Loved Ones will meet at 6 p.m. each Thursday on the second floor of the Haddad Building, 4825 MacCorkle Ave. S.W., South Charleston. The hourlong free addiction education presentation is for those wanting to learn research-based information on drug and alcohol use, identification and effective ways to help the person with an addiction. The Kanawha Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet for a soup and salad luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The program will be "Who Do You Think You Are?" moderated by Shirley M. Gilkeson, past vice president general, honorary state regent and honorary chapter regent. Members will share something about their genealogy or Revolutionary ancestor. Hostesses Betty Davis and April Gardner will provide soup and members are asked to bring a salad. Reservations are not required; however, they are appreciated. Bring Campbell's labels and Box Tops for Education for the School Committee and canceled postage stamps for the Veterans Committee.
