LOGAN, W.Va. -- Police are investigating the robbery and homicide of an elderly Logan County man, officials say.

Logan Mayor Serafino J. Nolletti said someone living near 605 Stratton St. became concerned when they hadn't seen their elderly neighbor at home in several days.

The neighbor called relatives to check on the elderly man, who was found dead from "obvious foul play," Nolletti said. Relatives had discovered the man's body, and then called police.

Nolletti said the man's truck is missing, as well as a TV from the home.

Logan Police Department officers were busy working Tuesday night to find suspects, he said.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of family. Nolletti said he knew the man and described it as a "very tragic situation."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Logan Police Department at 304-752-6535 or the West Virginia State Police's Logan Detachment at 304-792-7174.
