The Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission's Finance/Golf Committee has canceled its meeting scheduled for Jan. 14.

Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the South Charleston Library. The program will be a video of "Gardening for Birds" by Dr. Doug Tallamy, professor of entomology at University of Delaware and author of "Bringing Nature Home: How Native Plants Sustain Wildlife in Our Gardens." Those interested in birds as well as gardening are welcome to attend. The board will meet at 6 p.m.

Charleston Coin Club will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Kanawha City Community Center, 3511 Venable Ave. A coin auction will take place. For information, call 304-727-4062.

Sissonville Public Service District will hold its regular board meeting at 4 p.m. Jan. 16 in the district office, 6438 Sissonville Drive, Sissonville.

South Charleston Board of Commissioners Housing Authority will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at the administrative offices, 520 Goshorn St., South Charleston.

West Virginia Institute for Spirituality will offer a seminar titled "Intensive: Methods of Directing the Nineteenth Annotation, the Retreat in Everyday Life," beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 and ending at noon Jan. 20. Unlimited Future Inc. is hosting a workshop to educate owners of small businesses and individuals about the specific information needed for a tax preparer to properly complete your taxes. The workshop, "Making 'Cents' Out of Your Tax Information: What Things to Bring to Your Tax Preparer," will take place at noon Jan. 24 at 1650 Eighth Ave., Huntington.
