CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Charleston Gazette's Happy Valentine's Children's Book Drive has added a second drop-off point, this one in Putnam County.
Donors may drop off used children's books that are in good shape at the Putnam County Library's Main Branch in Teays Valley, thanks to a suggestion from a reader.

Donors may drop off used children's books that are in good shape at the Putnam County Library's Main Branch in Teays Valley, thanks to a suggestion from a reader.
Putnam County Library Director Steve Christo readily agreed to collect books for the drive that continues through Feb. 14.
The Putnam County Library main branch is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday; from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Books started arriving Wednesday morning, both in the Gazette lobby and at Children's Home Society's office on Kanawha Boulevard.
Children's Home Society and Read Aloud West Virginia are partners in the book drive and will distribute the books to children who need them throughout the state.
Children who have books at home tend to go further in school, no matter how educated their parents are or what their family income is. Children who have books are more likely to develop the habit of reading for fun, which leads to better reading skills and better grades and test scores.
Donations of books appropriate for children are welcome in the Charleston Newspapers lobby during business hours seven days a week, 1001 Virginia St. E. Children's Home Society will also accept donations at any of their locations in 13 counties.
