BRANCHLAND, W.Va. -- The West Virginia State Police is investigating the death of a toddler whose body was found under a cook stove in Lincoln County.

Capt. Dave Nelson told WCHS-TV that investigators believe the stove fell over and trapped the child after the floor gave way under it.

The child's body was found Monday in the kitchen of a residence in the Branchland area. The State Police said the child's caretaker was sleeping at the time of the incident.
