Appalachian Power spokeswoman Jeri Matheney says the fire occurred in an unused area of the Mountaineer Plant that's being demolished.
Matheney tells The Point Pleasant Register that a 75-foot tall fiberglass tank caught fire as a demolition crew was working at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. No one was injured.
She says the tank was empty. An investigation is underway to determine why the tank ignited.
