John Henson Center and Putnam Aging: are selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a one-week beach vacation in Top Sail North Carolina at Saint Regis Resort. Proceeds will benefit the Putnam County Aging Senior Nutrition Program. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. The condo sleeps four to six and is completely furnished with the exception of linens. It has an ocean view, outside and indoor pool, sauna, exercise room and hot tub. The winner will be responsible for a $50 cleanup fee. The Kanawha Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution: are sponsoring a program to encourage kindergarten teachers to teach their students the proper way to say the Pledge of Allegiance. The program is being offered to all public, private and parochial schools in Kanawha and surrounding counties. Age-appropriate teaching materials are provided to kindergarten teachers. Students who learn simple flag etiquette, flag fact, and can recite the Pledge of Allegiance are presented a flag certificate and a small American flag. Teachers are given a copy of the Flag Code and a Pledge of Allegiance poster for their classroom. Kindergarten teachers who would like to participate in the program should contact Lois C.
