MORGANTOWN -- Supporters have given $605 million in gifts and in-kind donations to West Virginia University's "State of Minds" fundraising campaign.

The WVU Foundation says the total as of Dec. 31 includes endowed scholarships and cash donations.

WVU Foundation President Wayne King says the fundraising push has three years to go. But it's already at 81 percent of the $750 million goal.

One of the biggest gifts so far is a nearly $18 million software donation from Schlumberger.

The initiative is focused on priority areas identified in WVU's 2020 strategic plan.

They include: improving the undergraduate experience; advancing research; improving the state's health, economy and quality of life; and supporting health care.
