Oak Hill man charged with murder

OAK HILL, W.Va. -- An Oak Hill man has been charged with murder, after police found a dead man in his apartment on Monday.

Jeffrey Dale Lafferty, 39, lives at 1440 East Main St., where Oak Hill police were called because of a trespassing complaint on Monday, according to a news release from the Oak Hill Police Department.

When they got there, officers found Michael Sheets, 46, of the Scarbro area. Sheets did not respond to officers, and was taken to Plateau Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers' investigation led them to Lafferty, who was arrested and charged with murder, according to the release.

Lafferty was taken to Southern Regional Jail. Sheets' body was taken to the state medical examiner's office.
