CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Local authorities have arrested a Kanawha County couple whose children were removed from their home last week for "deplorable" living conditions.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies and workers for the state Department of Health and Human Resources went to the mobile home of Jodie Lee Wisen, 23, in Belle on Jan. 17 to investigate a report that Wisen's children were not being cared for.
When they got there, deputies allegedly found the two infants' grandmother high on drugs and the mobile home full of freshly manufactured methamphetamine, police said. Deputies issued arrest warrants for Wisen and her boyfriend, William Clayton Booth, 31, of Cabin Creek.
Cpl. Brian Humphries of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said troopers with the West Virginia State Police arrested Booth and Wisen on unrelated charges on Monday. Deputies have charged the couple with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, based on the earlier warrants.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
