Under a federal disaster declaration signed by President Barack Obama on Nov. 27, 18 counties became eligible for public assistance.
The deadline to apply for reimbursement for recovery and cleanup costs from the storm and for aid to repair or replace public buildings and infrastructure is Saturday.
So far the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved dispersed more than $1.3 million for 43 projects.
The late October storm left many areas with a massive cleanup effort. FEMA's Charleston public assistance chief Gary Brand says cleanup and repair in West Virginia under public assistance guidelines may top $11 million for more 175 projects.
