Farris named WVU dean of students
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Corey Farris was officially named West Virginia University's dean of students Wednesday.
Farris will serve as a liaison between students, university administrators and community officials, in addition to handling issues such as discipline and overall guidance.
He has served as the interim dean of students since 2010, and oversees the Office of Student Life, Housing and University Apartments, the Student Recreation Center and other departments.
"Corey is an outstanding dean of students. He is an advocate for students and works hard to support their academic and personal success. He works well with staff, faculty and the community to ensure that our students have a supportive and inclusive campus, which enhances their ability to learn inside and outside of the classroom," WVU Vice President of Student Affairs Ken Gray said in a statement released Wednesday.
Farris, who has been with the university since 1991, will assume the position immediately.
