Kanawha County Public Library board of directors Finance Committee system will meet at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Main Library, 123 Capitol St. The board will review the draft of the audits of KCPL and The Library Foundation of Kanawha County. St. Albans American Legion Auxiliary Unit 73 will have a sausage and pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at the St. Albans American Legion Hall, Pennsylvania Avenue, St. Albans.
Friends of Susie Pierson will have a benefit bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 2 at the former Tudor's building in Gauley Bridge. Cakes, cookies, candy, brownies, homemade bread and more will be available for purchase. Chances to win a homemade baby quilt or basket of homemade candles will be offered at $2 for per chance or three for $5. Pierson has been battling cancer for eight years and will be traveling to Duke University Hospital in February for more surgery. Those who would like to contribute a baked good may call Sandy Sparks at 304-779-5089 and it will picked up Feb. 1. Monetary donations also will be accepted.
Kanawha Pastoral Counseling will offer a workshop in building communications skills from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Unity of Kanawha Valley, 804 Myrtle Road. The workshop will be led by Sky Kershner and qualifies for the West Virginia premarital preparation marriage license discount.
ThunderTones Chorus members will break up into quartets to deliver singing valentines Feb. 13-15. The valentines include a keepsake gift and a personalized card delivered by an authentic barbershop quartet, which will sing two romantic love songs. The quartet will deliver to a residence, workplace or restaurant. The cost for the package is $50. The ThunderTones Chorus is the Huntington Tri-State Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
