CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston woman was arrested Tuesday night and charged with malicious wounding after police say she stabbed her boyfriend in the back with a large knife.

Nynita Carter stabbed her partner at about 8 p.m. at 904 Richard St. on Charleston's East End, Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers said.

The man was taken to CAMC General Hospital in unknown condition.

The stabbing followed an argument between the two, according to a criminal complaint.

Carter was arraigned Tuesday night in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
