INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- A scholar who specializes in diversity and race relations will deliver the keynote address at a Black History Month convocation hosted by West Virginia State University.

JeffriAnne Wilder is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of North Florida. Wilder regularly speaks at events across the country on race, gender, and diversity issues. She'll be the featured speaker at the convocation on Feb. 5 at the Ferrell Hall auditorium in Institute.

The event is free and open to the public. Afterward, a luncheon in the Wilson University Union will give attendees the chance to sample popular African-American dishes. Tickets are being sold for various dishes at 25 cents apiece.
