SCARBRO, W.Va. -- Fayette County sheriff's deputies are investigating a home invasion and attempted robbery in Scarbro.

At 7:44 p.m. Wednesday, a white male allegedly walked through the front door of a home in the Blue Jay Road area and demanded money from the 53-year-old man who lives there. The man's stepdaughter and a family friend were also inside the home at the time, according to a release from Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.

When the resident said he did not have any money, the alleged perpetrator fired a round into the floor and said, "I'm not kidding, I'm serious," before walking out of the residence, the release states.

"We do not have a lot of information to go on at this point," Kessler said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fayette County 911 center at 304-574-1610 or crime stoppers at 304-255-7867. Tipsters can also submit information through the department's website at www.fayettesheriffwv.net.
