BEVERLY, W.Va. -- The Beverly Heritage Center's "Heart of a Heritage" benefit dinner event Feb. 16 will feature a three-course home-cooked meal and the opening of new exhibits on local history.
The 6 p.m. open house offers a preview of two new exhibits for the center this year. The story of Beverly's Laura Jackson Arnold, sister of Stonewall Jackson, will be told with quotes, photos and artifacts. A second rotating exhibit will feature images of Beverly's past.
Tickets for "Heart of a Heritage" are $45 each, or $85 per couple, with reservations requested. Contact the Beverly Heritage Center at 304-637-7424 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The center is six miles south of Elkins on U.S. 219.
Go fly a kite
MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. -- The fourth annual New Era Kite Fest will take place March 16 and 17 at the New Era One Room School Museum campus at Mineral Wells.
The hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 and noon to 4 p.m. March 17. Free kites will be given to the first 50 children in attendance. There will be show kites, a kite building workshop, kite vendors, food concessions, a kite safety and history workshop, free school museum tours, games, face paint, music and prizes.
