Illinois fugitive captured in Huntington
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Police in Huntington arrested an Illinois man wanted on suspicion of violating his parole by threatening a judicial official.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Thomas Ray III, 43, in the 2100 block of 9th Avenue on Tuesday. Ray is on parole for a 2006 kidnapping conviction.
Marshals in Illinois named Ray a person of interest in connection to threats made against a judicial official there, according to a news release.
Marshals spotted Ray as he was leaving his apartment in Huntington at about 10:30 a.m. He ran between houses and attempted to get away from authorities, according to the release.
Marshals allegedly found a .40-caliber pistol and ammunition on Ray. They said they obtained a search warrant and found several other firearms and a silencer inside Ray's apartment.
Ray is being held in the Western Regional Jail awaiting an extradition hearing back to Illinois.
