Spiritual healing

The Circle of Friends will sponsor an introduction to "Help and Healing on the Spiritual Path through the Teachings of Bruno Groening," from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Panucci Orthodontics, 133 Seventh Ave., South Charleston. Putnam Democrats

The Putnam County Democrat Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the old Putnam County Courthouse, second floor. Election of officers for 2013-14 will be held. Bring a covered dish. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed. For information, call 304-744-7139.

Democratic luncheon

The Putnam County Chapter of the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women will hold its February luncheon meeting at noon Feb. 16 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. The cost is $10 per person. Guest speaker will be Steve Christo, Director of Putnam County Library System. Bring a door prize and a friend. All Democrats welcome. Yearly membership dues are requested. Teen Expo

The South Charleston High School Strive Club is working with Kanawha Communities That Care to provide a Healthy Living Teen Expo for the students and the community from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at South Charleston High School. Vendors are needed. Presentations for both adults and teens regarding substance abuse will be made. Vendors are also asked to provide a door prize if possible. Cold-frame growing

West Virginia State University Extension Service will offer cold-frame construction workshops for gardeners from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Barnett Center, 1524 10th Ave. in Huntington and from 10 a.m. to noon March 6 at the School of Harmony, 159 Granby Circle in Beaver. Cold frames are enclosures designed with transparent roofs that allow plants to still receive sunlight while shielding them from dangerous elements, like excessive moisture or low temperatures. Their function is similar to that of a greenhouse, extending the growing season through the winter months. The class costs $40 and includes a cold-frame kit.
