MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation has donated $328,000 toward four projects at West Virginia University.

The Northern West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center is getting $97,000 to help communities with dilapidated buildings that could be redeveloped into new businesses.

The center is also getting $94,000 for a program called the West Virginia Redevelopment Collaborative Model to support work in four Main Street communities.

WVU's Center for Healthy Practitioners Program, meanwhile, is getting an additional $75,000 to help cross-train health sciences students in disease prevention tactics.

And a $62,000 grant goes to the Southern West Virginia Lifestyles Project in Wyoming County. It's developing training modules to promote stress reduction, smoking cessation, diet and exercise, prenatal care and adolescent health.

The donations are part of WVU's ongoing "State of Minds" fundraising campaign.
