WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Two West Virginia high school students will be headed to Washington next month to take part in the 51st Annual United States Senate Youth Program.

Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin announced Thursday that Isaac Jones, of Capital High School in Kanawha County and Julian Pecora, of Notre Dame High School in Harrison County will be among 104 students from every state, the District of Columbia and Department of Defense to go to Washington from March 9-16 to take part in the Senate Youth Program's Washington Week.

The Senate Youth Program was created in 1962 to promote understanding of how the three branches of government work. Participants in the program get a $5,000 college scholarship and an intensive weeklong look at federal government and its movers and shakers.
