CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A discussion regarding the expansion of South Charleston's sewer lines into Lincoln County continued on Thursday at a City Council meeting.
The portion of Lincoln County targeted for expansion currently does not have a sewer system, and South Charleston's infrastructure is able to sustain both.
"You have to have vision in this business," said South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens.
The sewer expansion would allow South Charleston to expand its borders to the Lincoln County line.
"It's a no-brainer project," Mullens said.
He said there are two different projected figures for the project: $20 million and $16 million. Mullens said a $20 million expansion would benefit more people.
Both the city and Lincoln County are currently looking for financial backing for sewer-line expansion.

"I will keep you posted as we go along slowly," Mullens told council members.
Also Thursday, council members learned that the Dunbar Fire Department will now automatically respond to calls within South Charleston's city limits.
Up until this point, the two cities would respond to the needs of the other if personnel permitted.
"It will allow for more equipment on the scene, so we can do a better job," said South Charleston Fire Chief John Taylor.
The motion is expected to be officially approved at the next meeting.
On Monday, Dunbar Mayor Jack Yeager said that under the cities' proposed agreement, if a fire is reported at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, for example, Dunbar firefighters would respond immediately.
