LOF retirees breakfast

Leadership reception

Leadership West Virginia will host its sixth annual State of the State Reception at the Charleston Marriott Town Center directly after the governor's address Wednesday. The event raises money for the group's scholarship fund. Food and drinks will be available. The Pennington Project will provide entertainment. Tickets are $25. Call 304-1497 for information.

Al-Anon, Alateen meetings

Al-Anon offers meetings for friends and family of alcoholics. Alateen meetings are for teens who are dealing with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend. Al-Anon meetings will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; and 7 p.m. Thursdays, Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive. Alateen meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive; and at 7 p.m. Sundays, the Legacy Study Group meets at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston.

Senior job training

Experience Works Senior Community Service Employment Program is accepting applications from people age 55 or older who are unemployed, live in Kanawha County and have incomes of $13,964 per year or less for a family of one ($18,913 for family of two). The free program provides paid community service assignments at local public and nonprofit organizations, training, referral to needed services, and job search assistance.
