Man killed by freight train in McDowell County

DAVY, W.Va. -- Freight railroad Norfolk Southern Corp. and the McDowell County Sheriff's office are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a train.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports that the man believed to be in his late 30s was on a railroad trestle about 1 ½ miles northwest of Welch Friday morning when he was struck. The victim has not been identified.

The train was traveling from Roanoke, Va., to Williamson.
