Cleanup continues at Harrison County train derailment site

GORE, W.Va. -- Workers are continuing to clean up diesel fuel and coal that spilled during a train derailment in Harrison County.

Two locomotives and five freight cars derailed Saturday in Gore after a CSX train hit debris from a rock slide.

CSX spokesman Bob Sullivan tells The Exponent Telegram that 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel leaked.

No one was injured in the derailment. An employee of a contractor hired by CSX to clean up the site was injured Sunday when a crane struck him in the head.

Sullivan says CSX is working with the state Department of Environmental Protection on the cleanup.

He says the company is investigating the derailment.
