Suspended student brings gun into Huntington High
Advertiser

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A Huntington High School student is being held on charges of bringing a gun into the school.

A police report says the 15-year-old boy was on suspension when he brought the small-caliber handgun into the school last week.

A Cabell County Schools official says that in large schools, every staff member doesn't always know who is suspended.

Secondary Schools administrative assistant Todd Alexander tells The Herald-Dispatch that the incident could serve to improve communication.

Police arrested the student in a retail store. He's being held at a juvenile facility on weapons charges.

State figures show Huntington High has about 1,600 students.
