CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police said they found powerful anti-anxiety pills and marijuana on a Charleston man who crashed into a school bus on the city's West Side Thursday afternoon.

Robert Anthony Pryor, 52, of West Washington Street, ran a red light and crashed his silver Daewoo into a school bus at the corner of 4th Avenue and Stockton Street, police said.

It was about 3 p.m. and several students were on board, but the students and the bus driver were not injured. Another bus came later to take the children home.

At the scene, Charleston Police Patrolman D. Fields identified Pryor from previous run-ins with the law, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Before a pat-down search, Pryor allegedly tried to dispose of a white prescription pill bottle in his hand. Police then found about 8 grams of marijuana, four Xanax pills and four Klonopin pills, according to the complaint.

Police later learned the inspection sticker on Pryor's car had been reported stolen.

Pryor was charged with simple possession of marijuana, receiving or transferring stolen goods and simple possession of a controlled substance.

He is currently being held in South Central Regional Jail.
