Charleston Catholic student recognized for volunteer service

Charleston Catholic High School freshman Lauren Karr has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President's Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community program on behalf of President Obama.

Karr earned her award by volunteering at the Clay Center, where she presents programs and exhibits to visitors.

Class Notes is a way to recognize the academic accomplishments of area students. We accept news of scholarships, academic awards and other scholastic achievements. We do not accept honor roll lists or news related to sports and extracurricular activities.
