NITRO, W.Va. -- An elderly woman is dead after a two-vehicle accident Friday night in Nitro.

Around 8 p.m., Nitro Police officers responded to a crash on W.Va. 25 at the Interstate 64 westbound entrance and exit ramps.

Tommy Jones, Jr., of St. Albans, was driving when he allegedly struck the side of a car driven by Andrew Lambert of Poca, according to a news release from Ptl. H.R. Blake with the Nitro Police Department.

Firefighters had to cut Lambert's car apart to get three passengers out. Lambert and another passenger, whose name has not been released, were taken to CAMC General Hospital and are listed in stable condition.

The third passenger, Cuba Lambert, 69, of Poca, was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital, where she later died from injuries she sustained in the crash, according to the release.

Jones was also taken to CAMC General with non-life threatening injuries.

The road was shut down for more than an hour Friday night while officers worked to reconstruct the accident. It remains under investigation and police say neither alcohol nor the weather were a factor in the crash. Charges may be filed depending on the outcome of the investigation.
