Photography class

Putnam County Parks & Recreation Commission: is hosting a photography class, instructed by Laura Moul, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, now through March 5 in the Commons of Putnam County by the Wave Pool. Steel workers retirees meeting

The United Steel Workers of Active Retirees will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the union hall located near Ravenswood. The menu will be beans and cornbread. All retirees and spouses are welcome. For more information, call Arol Squires at 304-273-2877 or Les Shockey at 304-273-3525.

KCEAA meeting

Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority will meet Friday at the central office located at 601 Brooks St. The officers meet at 11 a.m. in the new training conference room. The regular Board of Directors meeting will take place at noon in the cafeteria. Agendas and materials will be available prior to the meeting. Call 304-345-2312, ext. 130 for questions.

Smoking cessation

Cabin Creek Health Systems will offer a free smoking cessation workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clendenin Health Center, 107 Koontz Ave. The workshop features the Kaiser Permanente course, a one-time, three-hour course. Civil War weekend

Valley (Wave Pool) Park in Hurricane will have a Civil War Weekend March 21-24 at the park. There will be night firing, parade drills, ladies tea, a remembrance play, military ball and horse-drawn wagon rides. The Sutlers and re-enactors will commemorate the skirmish of Hurricane Bridge and the Battle of Scary Creek. Donations are accepted.
