Helicopter will inspect Mon Power lines in state
Advertiser

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Don't panic if you see a black helicopter flying low and slowly over the hills in northern West Virginia.

Emergency management officials in Monongalia County say Chesapeake Bay Helicopters will be performing inspections on Mon Power transmission lines starting today.

The inspections will take about two weeks to complete, if the weather cooperates.

The helicopter will be flying at about 10-20 mph along the lines and will often hover or circle for a closer inspection of either the wires or the support structures.

The aircraft being used is a black Hughes MD500 with tail number N741SF.
