DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Dunbar has hired Aaron Settle to consult for the city's recreation department.

Settle, an associate professor of exercise sciences at West Virginia State University, was introduced to Dunbar City Council Thursday night.

Since starting in the position after the first of the year, Settle hosted the most successful Critter Dinner to date. Two truckloads of food were collected for last Saturday's dinner, and more than $1,000 was donated. All proceeds from the dinner were given to the Dunbar-Institute Samaritan Center.

"What the city does well, it does really well," said Settle. "I'm looking to expand opportunities for [people in their] 20s, 30s and 40s in the area."

Among the programs Settle wants to start are a mens basketball league and a fitness program for the elderly.
