CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Area children had the chance to ride a hovercraft, launch an Alka-Seltzer rocket and make science toys among other events at the Clay Center's annual Discover Engineering family fun day in Charleston Saturday. 

The event involves hands-on activites and displays presented by local engineering firms, colleges and universities. 

Discover Engineering is sponsored by West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
