Al-Anon offers meetings for friends and family of alcoholics. Alateen meetings are for teens who are dealing with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend. Al-Anon meetings will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; and 7 p.m. Thursdays, Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive. Alateen meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive; and at 7 p.m. Sundays, the Legacy Study Group meets at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston.
The West Virginia Women's Commission will host Women's Day at the Legislature March 5 and 6 at the State Capitol Complex and Embassy Suites in Charleston. The two-day event will feature workshops and interactive sessions as well as legislative visits to the House and Senate Chambers. Author Emily Bennington, a Charleston native, will speak at a special session on effective leadership. Registration is free, however pre-registration is required in advance.
