SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Women looking to expand their skill sets can learn everything from shooting to wilderness first aid at West Virginia's next Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Workshop.

The Division of Natural Resources says the spring event is April 19-21 at North Bend State Park near Cairo.

Any woman 18 or older can register for four sessions over the weekend, with offerings to suit every interest.

"Friend or Foe'' focuses on whether plants are safe to eat, while canning classes offer another way to preserve game meat.

Women can also learn to build an emergency bivouac, mountain bike, and shoot with a bow, handgun or rifle. Other courses teach self-defense, outdoor survival and fishing.

Registrations are due March 29.

A second workshop will be offered in September at Watoga State Park.
