Bird watch

The Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club will look for early spring bird migrants at 9 a.m. Saturday. Meet at 9 a.m. at the park-and-ride at the Nitro exit off Interstate 64. Met Opera

The Metropolitan Opera will present a live performance of "Parsifal" in high definition from noon to 5:40 p.m. Saturday at Cinemark at the Huntington Mall and at Great Escape in Nitro. Tickets at Cinemark are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for children. For information on free passes, call 304-696-3137. Kanawha Trail Club hike

Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike Sunday on the Davis Creek Trail at Kanawha State Forest. Meet at 1:30 p.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at the swimming pool. The hike is about 5 miles over easy terrain. A 2.5-mile hike also is available.

Public broadcasting

The West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority will meet at 10 a.m. March 6 at 600 Capitol St. The West Virginia Public Broadcasting Foundation will meet after that.
