State art contest winners to be announced today

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- State officials are preparing to announce the West Virginia winners of the 2013 Congressional Youth Art Competition.

The nationwide high school competition recognizes and encourages artistic talent in each congressional district.

Each district winner's art will be on display at the U.S. Capitol for a year. An exhibition at the Culture Center in Charleston will feature the work of West Virginia's winners through March.

The winners also will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., and at the Culture Center.

The West Virginia winners will be announced at 2 p.m. today in the Great Hall of the Culture Center.
