WVU institute offers grants to watershed groups

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Local watershed groups in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia can apply for grants to develop or expand water quality monitoring.

The West Virginia Water Research Institute at West Virginia University is offering the grants to watershed groups in four regions served by its 3 Rivers Quest Program. The regions are the Monongahela, Upper Ohio, Northern Allegheny and Southern Allegheny river basins.

The university says the institute will award grants of up to $7,000.

The deadline to submit proposals is March 15.

Proposals must be submitted to the 3 Rivers Quest Program partner in each region. The partners are: the research institute, Monongahela River Basin; Wheeling Jesuit University, Upper Ohio River Basin; Duquesne University, Southern Allegheny River Basin; and the Iron Furnace Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Northern Allegheny River Basin.
