CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The superintendent of a state juvenile corrections facility in Tucker County will serve as acting director of the Division of Juvenile Services.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced Stephanie Bond's appointment on Wednesday.

Bond replaces Dale Humphreys, who was fired.

Tomblin spokeswoman Amy Shuler Goodwin said the Governor's Office and the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety jointly made the decision to fire Humphreys. She would not comment on why Humphreys was fired.

Bond had served as superintendent of the Kenneth "Honey'' Rubenstein Juvenile Center in Davis since 2004. She previously held several positions at the West Virginia Industrial Home for Youth in Salem.

Last year, a circuit judge condemned conditions at the Salem facility as too prisonlike for many occupants.
